In one word - Diverse. We are diverse in a variety of ways. Our history, ownership structures, business functions, geographical locations, customer-base, management team, team member make up, educational and socio-economic backgrounds show just how diverse we are. Each one of these factors drives our company culture. The one common focus is customer satisfaction. It is what keeps us together; it is what keeps us in business.

Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. regards the protection and nurture of the Earth's environment as a crucial management issue, as well as a strategic business direction. We will strive toward the creation of a sustainable society through our daily activities and programs for protecting the environment and in our business development activities as we seek to create and manage businesses related to recycling and energy/resource conservation.

Team Development
TAI is committed to training and developing team members to ensure their success. Training is a continuous process offered through a combination of formal classroom and on-the-job training. We financially, support continuing education through our tuition reimbursement program. In addition, team members are encouraged to reach out for specialized training opportunities, which are coordinated and supported by their specific department, based on business needs. These opportunities may be found in professional or technical seminars, trade or professional organizations or various civic organizations. Cross-training is utilized, in many positions, to ensure flexibility and professional enhancement. We depend on our team members to provide suggestions and ideas for continual improvement in our business practices and daily, standard operating procedures.

Support
We provide a positive, supportive work environment. Our goal is to create a climate that motivates and nurtures the generation of new ideas. Therefore, we strive to actively engage employees by emphasizing enterprise-wide communication and sharing. TAI takes great pride in encouraging the free exchange of ideas at all levels; this concept is driven by our open door policy. In addition, we have various methods of internal concern resolution in place whereby, team members are encouraged to openly identify areas they feel could be improved upon. Team members are able to share problems and discuss decisions with management without fear of reprisal. In return, management openly shares information to ensure team members understand our business goals and objectives.

Team Environment
The team concept is at our core. Interpersonal and communication skills are absolutely vital to our success. We enjoy an open office environment with no physical barriers. There are no separate executive dining facilities. All levels, including executives, wear business casual attire, and shares common benefits. We encourage a hands-on, highly visible management presence.

TAI is focused on strategic business planning. We maintain lean staffing levels; focus on good attendance and cross-train team members to make them as flexible as possible. This staffing system is designed to hire only as many team members as needed to avoid employment fluctuations, as much as possible. We encourage promoting from within and offer a variety of transfer opportunities to current employees. However, all such decisions are based on skills, abilities and job requirements.
