JAPAN! Summer Festival 2011

Each year, the Japan/America Society holds its JAPAN! Summer Festival in Lexington, KY.  In an effort to bring the feel of a traditional Japanese outdoor festival to the Bluegrass, vendors and clubs join JASK and its volunteers from across the state to come celebrate all things Japan.

Admission and Parking FREE!
Donations accepted via online registration or at http://jask.org/donate

Program Highlights:
  • Large open area near Shelter 6 will be dotted with games, activities, and mini-classes all focused on Japan.
    • Origami - paper folding
    • Shuji - calligraphy (write your name in Japanese)
    • Kimono - try on a kimono, snap some pictures
    • Nintendo Wii Tournament
  • Japanese food - local restaurants will serve traditional Summer foods from Japan
  • Japanese Flea Market - Japanese families will sell a wide variety of goods you cannot find in America
  • Performances - various artists, such as martial artists and musicians will share their talents
  • Special Feature: TAIKO Traditional Japanese Drum Troupe from Dayton, OH
  • Special Feature: Japanese Idol Contest - sing Japanese karaoke on-stage for a $1,000 prize
The JAPAN! Summer Festival is a community event, free for everyone.  We hope to see you in August for the festivities!
